A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was alleged to have been stabbed during a burglary in Luton.

Three men, described by police as black and in their twenties, are alleged to have broken into Tony Abrahams' home.

Police revealed that Abrahams, 47, was attempting to protect his wife and daughters when he approached the three intruders.

He remains in a serious but stable condition at Luton and Dunstable Hospital. His injuries have been described as not "immediately life-threatening".

Det Insp Iain Morgan said that Abrahams got out of bed and went to investigate when he heard noises in his property.

"He went to leave the room and found the bedroom door was being held shut from the other side," he said.

Abrahams forced the door open and was confronted by three men in balaclavas who stabbed him before fleeing.
