Manchester United have offered winger Luis Nani to Monaco this summer, according to the Ligue 1 club's sporting director Vadim Vasilyev, who has refused to rule out the possibility of signing the Portuguese international.

Monaco have been Europe's biggest spenders this summer after hauling themselves back into France's top flight, spending in the excess of €120m in bringing Radamel Falcao, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Jeremy Toulalan to the club, in addition to recruiting Eric Abidal and Ricardo Carvalho on free transfers.

26-year-old winger Nani has been suggested as another possible addition to Monaco's vibrant new attacking contingent, but manager Claudio Ranieri suggested over the weekend no move was imminent, with the club's summer spending spree near enough concluded.

But Vasilyev has indicated the club may change their stance towards the end of the transfer window, having already been offered the opportunity to sign Nani during this transfer window.

"He has been proposed to us," Vasilyev told L'Equipe. "He is a very good player, but there have been no talks so far.

"We have already changed our group quite a bit and we also want to offer opportunities to our young players. We still have time to make a few alterations before the end of the transfer window, if needed."

Nani, whose current contract with United runs out next summer, has been linked with an exit from Old Trafford for some time. Suggestions his future might lie away from the club heightened last season as the former Sporting Lisbon starlet started just six Premier League games, but it remains to be seen what role David Moyes has in mind for the winger.

Nani has been unavailable for United's pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia due to a broken nose. In his absence, Moyes has afforded opportunities to Wilfried Zaha and Adnan Januzaj, who's impressive pre-season performances could have them challenging for roles in Moyes' first team squad in the new season.
