Uncharted the lost legacy
Naughty Dog has announced a brand new Uncharted chapter called The Lost Legacy starring Chloe Frazer Sony

Naughty Dog has unveiled a new chapter in the Uncharted series called Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, a new standalone DLC game starring Chloe Frazer, at The PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, California. Frazer will team up with Nadine Ross who debuted as a villain in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End that was released in May.

The surprise announcement was made in a nearly nine minute-long video (embedded below) that shows a veiled woman, who is later revealed to be Chloe Frazer, making her way through a war-torn city in India and sneaking past armed men towards a meeting with a person with whom she has been texting. After breaking her way into a building and getting up to the roof, she tackles several guards and is eventually saved by a mysterious woman who turns out to be Ross.

"In order to recover a fabled ancient Indian artefact and keep it out of the hands of a ruthless war profiteer, Chloe Frazer must enlist the aid of renowned mercenary Nadine Ross (from Uncharted 4: A Thief's End)," the game's description reads. "Together, they'll venture deep into the mountains of India in search of the legendary artefact. Along the way, they'll learn to work together to unearth the mystery of the artifact, fight their way through fierce opposition, and prevent the region from falling into chaos."

During a panel at the event, creative director Shaun Escayg said The Lost Legacy will take place after Uncharted 4: A Thief's End, adding that the footage showcased at the event was taken from the beginning of the game, IGN reports.

Writer Josh Scherr mentioned that the game will be set in India and said that the development team took a "deep dive" into Hinduism and mythology whilst creating the game's story in which Chloe must work together with Nadine to recover the long lost tusk of Ganesh.

Game director Kurt Margenau said the game will include the same "wide-linear" level design from Uncharted 4.

"We've spent the better part of the last 10 years on a journey with Nathan Drake, but as his story came to a close in Uncharted 4 and we looked ahead to the series' first-ever story DLC, we were faced with an unprecedented question: whose story did we want to tell next?," the developer wrote in a blog post. "Over the years, we've assembled an incredible cast of characters, but of them all, we kept coming back to one in particular: Chloe Frazer.

"As the smooth-talking master thief that debuted in Uncharted 2, Chloe is not only one of our favorite characters, but we know she's a favourite amongst our community. She's also a strong and enigmatic character —in other words, perfect to be our lead protagonist in Uncharted: The Lost Legacy."

The Lost Legacy initially started out as a DLC for the overwhelmingly successful Uncharted 4 title, but was later expanded to become a standalone story within the Uncharted universe, the developer said. As Naughty Dog's biggest story expansion yet, the game will be shorter than Uncharted 4 but longer than The Last of Us: Left Behind, Naughty Dog noted.

"We wanted this adventure to feature all of the hallmarks of the series, from cinematic storytelling set within exotic destinations, to dynamic combat and intricate puzzles," the developer said.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy is set to release in 2017. Players who purchased the Uncharted 4 Digital Deluxe Edition or the Explorer's Pack will receive the game as a download at launch.
