Netflix Inc, a provider of on-demand Internet streaming media in the United States, is now available in the UK and Ireland.

The Playstation 3 Netflix app for PS3 appeared for some UK owners a few days before the official launch of the service on Sunday.

One month free trial is available for anyone interested in the service. Once the users have used up the free trial package, the service will cost £5.99 per month for the UK consumers while Ireland users will have to pay a subscription fee of €6.99 per month.

The Netflix app on the PS3 XMB is a 13MB download file. The set-up is similar to that on the Xbox 360, which will allow Netflix subscribers to stream movies and TV shows from their Instant Queue to watch on the console.

Popular shows like "The Only Way is Essex," "Prison Break" and "Damages" (starting from the pilot episode till the last season) and great films such as "3:10 to Yuma," "Blitz" and "The English Patient" will be available, with new content added continuously.

The service will bring unlimited streaming of thousands of movies and TV shows to Mac, PC and Xbox 360 as well as iOS and Android devices. And the UK version will be rivalled by LOVEFiLM - the Amazon-owned service with over 2 million subscribers - 4od, ITV and BBC iPlayer.

Meanwhile, Netflix already has content deals with BBC Worldwide, Miramax, Lionsgate and MGM in the UK.
