The New York International Bridal Week saw collections from leading American and European designers and the event featured a wide collection of bridal gowns, bridesmaids' dresses, flower girl dresses, prom and special occasion dresses, footwear and accessories.

Time magazine reviewed the show, stating: "The latest collections, which were showcased from Oct. 12-15, juxtaposed dramatic flowing skirts with sleek columns, delicate lacework with voluminous tiers, and headpieces galore."

The Bridal Fashion Week for this year was held at the Pier 94 Hotel in New York City and meant for traders only, creating a huge marketplace for manufacturers and retailers who sought high-end and upscale lines.

The 2012 New York Bridal Fashion Week was divided into two segments - the Collections and the Spotlight on Couture shows.

The former showcased creations of wedding fashion industry's premium lines, including Allure Bridals, Casablanca Bridal, CB Couture, David Tutera for Mon Cheri, Eden Bridals, Enzoani, Hera Bridal, Intuzuri, Sophia Tolli for Mon Cheri and Terani Couture.

The latter - Spotlight on Couture - featured exquisite collections of couture wedding dress labels such as Angel Rivera, Caroline Castigliano, Delphine Manivet, Farage Paris, Leila Hafzi, Martina Liana, Rafael Cennamo, Sarah Janks, Sassi Holford and Tulle New York.

New York-based designer Vera Ellen Wang presented an all-white show of wedding gowns with lace work, embellishments and headgear. Wang's Fall 2013 Bridal collection was about a variety of styles, ranging from a voluminous flared gown to sleeker, waist-defining gowns. The laced bodice pieces seemed inspired by Sarah Burton's creation for Kate Middleton's wedding and a few others seemed to draw from pearl-beading and crystal work reminiscent of Indian designers. Wang declared her collection as a "study in femininity and romance [that] celebrates the wedding gown in a new take on classicism and ornamentation".

Meanwhile, The Huffington Post described the entire Fashion Week as "full of surprises", writing: "From an all white collection at Vera Wang (after two white-free seasons!), to the ultra-short flapper-inspired dresses on the Reem Acra runway, to Venetian Carnevale masks at Ines DiSanto, we were enthralled."
