Investigators in New York have released CCTV footage of a man throwing a molotov cocktail at a building in Queens, New York.

The attack was one of four arson attacks that occurred over the space of a couple of hours in the borough Queens, including attacks on a mosque.

On Sunday, the entrance to the Imam Al-Khoei Foundation building, a Shiite organisation that provides education, funeral and counselling services, was hit by two Molotov cocktails, although the damage was minimal.

The Imam Al-Khoei Foundation has one of the most prominent Shia mosques in New York.

The other targets in the suspected arson attacks were a corner store and another house. No serious injuries have been reported and police have yet to make any arrests.

Police said in three of the four attacks, Molotov cocktails were made using Starbucks bottles. Police are hunting a 25 to 30 years old man, about 5-foot-8 and weighing about 200 pounds

The foundation said on its website: "(the foundation) reiterates its resolve to continue to serve the community and to strive to bring love where there is hatred, light where there is darkness and enlightenment where there is ignorance."

As well as releasing the CCTV footage, NYPD have released a sketch of the suspect. Police have said they are looking for a man

Police are investigating the incident as a hate crime.
