Arsenal target and Newcastle United full-back Mathieu Debuchy has confirmed that he will join the Gunners this transfer window.

The north London club are set to unveil Debuchy as their first summer signing, and he will be a direct replacement for the departing Bacary Sagna.

The French defender, who has been linked with a move to the Emirates throughout the summer, was waiting for the end of France's World Cup campaign to make a decision on his future. He had made it clear that he wants to play in the Champions League.

After France's exit at the hands of Germany, there was an Instagram post under the name of Debuchy, and it said: "Goodbye Brazil. Hello Arsenal."

However, the player has come out and denied having made that post. Nevertheless, he confirmed that talks were ongoing with Arsenal about a transfer.

"It is not I who posted it on Instagram, Everyone says that, but there is nothing done. For now, we are discussing. Arsenal is a great club, we'll see how it goes," Debuchy said.

Post this statement, Debuchy, who kept Sagna out of the Les Blues starting XI during the entire campaign in Brazil, has now confirmed the story and said that he will be moving across England, from Tyneside to north London.

"Yes, I will be joining Arsenal for next season," Debuchy said, as quoted in the Express.

Arsenal have been linked to various right-backs over the summer transfer window, with rumours suggesting that a deal for Toulouse full-back Serge Aurier had been reached. However, it looks like Arsene Wenger has gone for a player, who is readymade for Arsenal and also someone with plenty of Premier League experience.
