Halsey is not willing to let anyone tell her what is and is not suitable for a feminist to do. The singer recently shut down a fan after he criticised her decision to pose for Playboy.

"You are a feminist but you flash your boobs in Playboy magazine," the individual commented on her Instagram post regarding the cover shoot. In the image, Halsey is seen posing in a see-through vest that clearly shows off her breasts while making the bunny ear sign with her fingers.

The photo is definitely tame by Playboy standards and the 22-year-old was not ready to take the criticism lying down. She responded to the user's comment, explaining that she was capable of doing various things and yet standing true to her feminist ideals.

"Yeah it's crazy. I can show my t**s in Playboy, perform at the Nobel Peace, speak at the Planned Parenthood Gala with Hillary Clinton, shake my ass on 300 stages, give a speech at the United Nations, do 150 shots of tequila, get a #1 album, and march in the streets of DC all in just ONE year!" she wrote.

JUST so we are fucking CLEAR 👆🏼💅🏼

"Newsflash. A woman can be multi dimensional #WeAreNotJustOneThing"

Not only did she hit back at the critic, she also shared a screenshot of the comments section with the caption: "JUST so we are f*****g CLEAR".

The post earned 370,000 likes with comments supporting her choice. "You the Woman!" one user wrote. "If you are doing what you enjoy, and don't feel like you're being violated, and you are not making certain acts upon women okay, you're still making a statement to me!"

Halsey has never shied away from speaking her mind on issues close to her heart, be it her identity as a bisexual, her mixed race or her feminist views. In her interview with Playboy she talks about some of the issues she faced growing up biracial.

"I look white, but I still have white boys in my life asking me why my nipples are brown," she said. "I look like a white girl, but I don't feel like one. I'm a black woman. So it's been weird navigating that. When I was growing up, I didn't know if I was supposed to love TLC or Britney."

The photo spread also includes images of her posing in Calvin Klein underwear, a sexy black bodysuit and in one, a bright pink shirt and matching stilettos.

"I've learned to pull confidence out of myself like I'm f*****g siphoning water from 10 feet beneath the soil," the Bad At Love singer explained. "My confidence grew from being intelligent, from being sexual. Put me on stage in front of 100,000 people if you want. You can't scare me."

Halsey's interview and photos feature in the upcoming issue of Playboy, which hits stands on 29 August.
