next doom game

Developer Bethesda has now indicated that that the next Doom game is almost here. The news came along with the release announcement for the upcoming Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Those who pre-order Wolfenstein, which will be launching on May 23 will get access to the beta. However, the developer refrained from offering any information on the game. Instead of calling it as Doom 4, Bethesda reffered to it as the "next Doom game".

When will the Beta be out?

Bethesda mentioned that the Doom beta will be launching at "a later, yet-to-be announced date". "The only current way to ensure access is through preordering Wolfenstein: The New Order," the company says.

How can you get your hands on the Beta after pre-ordering?

"An insert will be included inside your boxed copy of Wolfenstein: The New Order. This insert will include a key code along with code redemption instructions. Once the key code is redeemed, you'll be registered to participate in the DOOM beta once it begins. Check back at wolfenstein.com/doom for updated information."

What platforms will it be available on?

The developer refrained from offering any information on what platforms the game will be available on.

However, owing to the fact that the new Wolfenstien game will be available on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, there is a very good chance that the "next doom game" is coming to all these platforms as well, since we don't expect the developer to hand out PC Beta passes to someone who buys a PS3 version of Wolfenstein: The New Order.

Troubled development?

The Doom series celebrated its 20th anniversary last year and saw its last game, Doom 3, in 2004. According to TheVerge, Doom 4 was officially announced in 2008, but has reportedly seen a very troubled development process.
