Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg talks about the importance of vocational skills and qualifications at The Skills Show, the UK's largest skills and careers event held at the NEC in Birmingham.

Attendees to The Skills Show were able to 'Have a go' at testing their skills from robotics to forensics, cooking to web design; speak to a diverse range of expert exhibitors and careers advisors; watch showcase demonstrations from talents in a variety of skills; and listen to spotlight talks.

But the highlight of the Skills Show was the WorldSkills UK National Competition Finals, where competitors went head-to-head in skills ranging from stonemasonry to floristry and media make up to landscape gardening. During the three days of the Show, 700 of the country's most talented apprentices and learners competed in front of 75,000 visitors to be named the 'best' in their skill in the UK. The Competitions aim to inspire people to be ambitious in their pursuit of skills to the highest level.
