Things are awkward between Ian Somerhalder and ex-girlfriend Nina Dobrev!

After the Vampire Diaries star Ian Somerhalder made a very public display about his feelings for Twilight star Nikki Reed, things got a little awkward with Nina Dobrev.

The co-actors were both at Comic-Con this week to promote Vampire Diaries Season 6.

Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder split in 2013 after two years together, and things are yet to return to normal. Somerhalder is rumoured to be dating Twilight star Nikki Reed and Nina is reportedly in the dark about it.

The former lovers knew Comic-Con was coming, and their attempt to make things easy between them didn't work out.

Nina Dobrev slammed her ex Ian Somerhalder after she discovered his new romance with Nikki Reed.

"At the WB booth, during The Vampire Diaries cast signing, Nina and Ian were separated by Paul Wesley," reported HollywoodLife.com.

The signing event also included stars Paul Wesley, Matt Davis, Kat Graham, and executive producer Julie Plec.

"It was awkward, all the other cast were sitting way closer to each other," the source said.

Nina didn't stick around with the rest of the cast before the panel.

"As soon as the signing ended, Nina was whisked away solo," the source said.

Despite this "awkward" meet-up, Ian tweeted his excitement about the annual event on July 26 and even said he wanted to kiss someone!

"I'm en route San Diego-watch out... I can't wait to give you a kiss #ComicCon2014 or #ComicCon Pucker up!"

Vampire Diaries fans secretly hoped that Ian would kiss Nina, since the former flames are loved worldwide as Damon and Elena, in the show.

Previously, Ian and Nikki Reed were spotted in farmers market getting cosy with each other. Nikki and Ian are reportedly smitten with each other and they love spending time together.

Let's hope that things get better between the two estranged couple, so they can keep their crazy hot chemistry alive when Vampire Diaries returns in the fall.
