Nine more people have been arrested in relation to the alleged naming of Ched Evans's victim after he was found guilty of rape.

Police are investigating claims that the comments were made as Evans was sentenced to five years for raping a 19-year-old woman near Rhyl, Denbigshire.

Five men and four women were arrested across north Wales in early-morning raids and are being held in custody at St Asaph police station.

Det Sgt Bob Halford said: "We continue to be proactive in this investigation and anticipate that further arrests will be made in the near future."

Three men were arrested earlier under the Sexual Offences Amendments Act and on suspicion of malicious communication.

They were bailed pending further inquiries.
