Summer work

As Chris Hughton enters his second season in charge at Norwich, the club have set about making some big leaps in the summer transfer window. A mammoth seven players have joined the club so far with two weeks still left before deadline day, with some big names joining the side that surprised everyone after their first season back in the Premier League ended with considerable safety in the top flight.

The club swooped quickly to break up a deal between QPR and Gary Hooper to snare the Celtic striker at the last minute as a replacement for the outgoing Grant Holt, while Ricky van Wolfswinkel, a name previously mentioned in connection with some of the Premier League's biggest clubs, also made the move for a fee of around €10m.

Now permanent-signing Javier Garrido, Martin Olsson and keeper Carlo Nash will seriously build on the side's defensive line-up, while Leroy Fer and Nathan Redmond, the latter whom Hughton worked with at Birmingham, will give the manager more options in midfield. While many of the top clubs have struggled to complete transfers this summer, Norwich were hogging the headlines with their buys and how they gel this season will certainly make for another interesting campaign under Hughton.

Manager - Chris Hughton

Hughton's first season in charge at Norwich after he made the move up from Championship-bound Birmingham saw him bring success to the club that many were not expecting. Repairing his own reputation after what seemed to be a particularly harsh sacking at Newcastle, the manager has rightly been given more time with the club to continue to build a side which could stay in the Premier League for seasons to come.

Key player - Gary Hooper

Hooper has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and replacing fan-favourite Holt will prove to be a big challenge for the commanding forward. If he can become one of the top flight's stand-out scorers as some have predicted he will be after three successful years with Celtic, Norwich could be propelled further towards European football. And with competition lapping at his feet from fellow summer signing van Wolfswinkel, it is certainly his time to step up and prove his worth in the Premier League.

Expectations

Finishing in the top half of the table again, without a fight on their hands for relegation, would be a big achievement in Norwich's mission to become a regular in the Premier League.

Prediction

Their signings have Norwich well placed for that much wanted top-half finish. 10th.
