Defending champion Novak Djokovic takes on Guillermo Garcia-Lopez in the quarterfinals of the 2014 Monte-Carlo Masters at the Court Central in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France, on Friday.

Overview

Djokovic eased past Pablo Carreno Busta in the third round of the 2014 Monte-Carlo Masters. The match lasted just 47 minutes as the World No 2 beat the 62<sup>nd ranked Spaniard, 6-0, 6-1, on Thursday.

The Serbian has only dropped two points in two matches played so far in this tournament. The 26-year-old now faces a third Spaniard on the trot in Garcia-Lopez at Monte-Carlo.

The 38<sup>th ranked Spaniard pulled off an upset in the third round by defeating World No 5, Tomas Berdych after playing for over two hours.

The 28-year-old Czech Republican seemed to be heading into the next round after winning the first set, 6-4, but Garcia-Lopez levelled the game with a 6-3 victory in the second set.

The 30-year-old then emerged, 6-1, on top in the deciding third set, thus paving his way into the last eight.

Djokovic will be determined to defend his title and prevent an upset while Garcia-Lopez is undoubtedly an underdog in this clash.

The winner of this match will face the winner between World No 12, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and World No 4, Roger Federer in the semi-final on Saturday.
