Overview

World number one Novak Djokovic will be looking to continue his brilliant form when he takes on Chinese Taipei's Yen-Hsun Lu. The Serb comes into the clash looking for his maiden French Open title, which would ensure that he completes a career Grand Slam, and he is the favourite to win this year's title.

Djokovic has been unstoppable over the past two years winning four out of the last five Grand Slams, multiple Masters titles and has a whooping 7,715 point lead over world number two Andy Murray in the ATP rankings. He will know that to win this title, he will need to maintain his form over two weeks and that players like Rafael Nadal and Andy Murray who will provide stiff competition.

World number 100 Yen-Hsun Lu, at the age of 32, is a veteran in the tennis circuit who relies on wearing down his opponents by looping the ball back and forth until he elicits an error. The problem with this strategy is that most of the time it does not come off against stronger opponents who then run past him.

Lu has not had a memorable 2016 season, missing most of the first five months due to injury and has just won two matches in seven attempts in the run-up to the French Open.
