One Direction's Harry Styles has kicked off his Jewish Passover Seder celebrations.

The 19-year-old singer took to Twitter to let fans know that he would be celebrating the holiday with his family.

ThePassover Seder, celebrated on 25 March, is the Jewish ritual feast that marks the start of the Passover holiday. It usually takes place on the evenings of the 14th day of Nisan in the Hebrew calendar, and on the 15th by traditionally observant Jews living outside Israel.

"Looking forward to Seder night. Always get a bit nervous when I have to sing Ma'nish Ta'na. But do love a shmorreh matzah. Happy pesach x," he told his 11.8 million followers.

Matzah is an unleavened bread traditionally eaten by Jews during the week-long Passover holiday. Chametz bread and other food made with leavened grain is forbidden according to Jewish law during this period.

Ma Nishtana refers to the four questions sung during the Passover Seder and traditionally asked by the youngest child at the table.

In February the former X Factor star reached out to his Jewish fans to wish them "Happy Purim".

"Enjoy your seudah today and boo loudly at hamann during the megillah!! x" he tweeted.

Purim is a Jewish holiday that commemorates the deliverance of the Jewish people in the ancient Persian Empire from destruction in the wake of a plot by Haman, a story recorded in the Biblical Book of Esther (Megillat Esther).
