One Direction star Zayn Malik is to marry Little Mix's Perrie Edwards.
Edwards' mum, Debbie Duffy, confirmed that her daughter was engaged to the 20-year-old heartthrob after the singer was spotted with a diamond ring at the world premiere of One Direction: This Is Us.
"It's wonderful because Zayn is absolutely gorgeous," Duffy told Real Radio. "They got engaged on Sunday. It's absolutely lovely.
"Perrie loves him to pieces. It's perfect. They get on so well together and understand each other. It's just fabulous."
She continued: "I said how's long's this gonna be? And she said I don't want a long engagement but I don't want a quick one either."
Edwards said: "He did the traditional asking me, and then he asked his mum and dad. It was fabulous, it was lovely. I was like a little marshmallow."
A representative for the stars said: "Zayn and Perrie are engaged but any further detail regarding their relationship is private."
According to the Sun, Edwards agreed to marry Malik - who is a one fifth of the biggest boyband in the world - after he got down on one knee for the "perfect proposal".
"She couldn't believe it. It's a shock to everyone," an insider said.
The couple started dating in December 2011 after meeting on the set of The X Factor, where Little Mix were crowned the winners.
They split in just a few weeks but decided to give it another go in April 2012.
Their relationship was tested in January this year when Malik was accused of cheating on Edwards with an Australian waitress.
