Oscar Pistorius Trial: Who is Roxanne Adams, the Lawyer Defending Bladerunner?

A member of the legal team which is defending Oscar Pistorius has been turning heads at his murder trial in Pretoria.

Roxanne Adams has been dominating online discussions since the start of the trial at North Gauteng High Court. Adams, 24, has not spoken at the trial, but this silence has not meant she has passed unnoticed.

One fellow attorney reportedly told journalists: "We were wondering how long it would take you guys to notice Roxanne. She's a favourite here."

She is on the team being led by the tough-talking Barry Roux and the young fitness fanatic certainly provides quite a contrast to the gnarled veteran, who has been involved in a series of bruising cross-examinations with witnesses.

After a recent trial session, Roux acknowleged a certain 'beauty and the beast' dynamic, when he said outside court that photographers should not snap "ugly men, but the beautiful ones."

Adams appears determined to scale the heights of South Africa's legal profession, just like Roux. She regularly proclaims on her Twitter page: "I love my job!" and is currently getting a front seat education in the art of adversial cross-examination from Roux, in the most high-profile trial on the planet.

Adams certainly is driven to succeed. Her feed is sprinkled with motivational mantras about achieving goals - which could also be a sign that Roux is a tough taskmaster.

Adams is a candidate attorney at Ramsey Webber law firm. Landing a role at the Pistorius trial can surely only aid the ambition which got her up close to the case being watched by the world.

Adams has spent the majority of proceedings close to Pistorius, who has been sitting behind her in the dock. Occasionally, he leans over to whisper instructions to his defence team.

Away from the court room Adams appears to be seriously into fitness, loving the gym and relaxing yoga workouts. It appears that working at Ramsey Webber can be gruelling, with the firm promising on its website to give "highly specialised robust legal solutions".

Pistorius denies premeditated murder. The disabled star claims he thought Steenkamp was an intruder in the bathroom of his luxury home in a gated community on the outskirts of Pretoria.
