Overview

Match 14 of the PSL will see the in-form Karachi Kings take on second placed Quetta Gladiators at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. Both the teams come into this game on the back of wins, making it an exciting clash as we come closer to the business end of the league.

The Karachi Kings secured a much-needed win in the last game, beating Lahore Qalandars by 27 runs to move to third place on the points table. English all-rounder Ravi Bopara stole the show, scoring 71 runs off 43 balls and then taking 6 for 16, the best bowling figure of the tournament so far.

Bopara has cut a frustrating figure on the international stage, giving brief glimpses of his talent. Some would say he has not been given enough opportunities by the English team. This performance, however, showed just what they are missing with the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup barely a month away. Bopara aside, the rest of Karachi players failed to contribute substantially. A team performance in this match would give Shoaib Malik's side immense confidence.

Quetta Gladiators, the most underrated side of the PSL, have surprised everyone with their performances so far. The Sarfraz Ahmed-lead side were not expected to do so well, with both the experts and fans calling their squad too lightweight. The Gladiators, however, have played to their strengths with both the foreign and local contingent chipping in at important stages. Luke Wright, Ahmed Shehzad, and skipper Ahmed have looked good with the bat, while the bowling unit has kept things tight with unknown spinner Mohammad Nawaz shining with the ball.

If there is one player who has not pulled his weight, that would be Kevin Pietersen. The player has struggled, scoring just 84 runs in 5 games. With just two games to go after this, Quetta would be hoping that the mercurial Englishman runs into form ahead of the knock-out stages.
