Paul Gallihawk search: Kent Police find body after Maidstone man went missing during Ocean Lake Triathlon
Police searching for Maidstone man Paul Gallihawk after he went missing during the Ocean Lake Triathlon have found a body. The 34-year-old was reported missing on 29 August after he failed to pick up his bike for the third and final leg of the race in Kent. Police and volunteers were joined by expert divers who searched Leybourne Lake. A police helicopter was also sent to the scene to help look for the recruitment worker.
A Kent Police spokesman said: "Officers conducting a search for a 34-year-old man who was taking part in a triathlon at Leybourne Lakes on Saturday, 29 August, have this morning discovered a body. Formal identification is yet to take place but the next of kin of the missing triathlete have been notified of the discovery."
Event organisers said on Facebook that they were helping rescuers to look for Gallihawk: "We are shocked by what happened yesterday at the Ocean Lake Triathlon and are working closely with the emergency services to do everything that we can to assist them in their search. Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time."
