Two fires were started deliberately on a Monarch flight to Egypt, police believe Reuters

Police are investigating two blazes believed to have been started deliberately on a passenger plane from Birmingham to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt. West Midlands Police believe a passenger may have started the fires on purpose on the 27 August Monarch flight. The force said that no one was hurt by the fires, and air crew extinguished them.

A police spokesman said: "Officers from the airport policing unit continue to investigate the circumstances around the incidents. No arrests have been made but our inquiries are still ongoing."

Monarch said that local police attended when the when flight ZB472, an Airbus carrying 201 passengers and seven crew, landed in Egypt.

"UK authorities have been notified and are dealing with the matter. As the alleged incident is the subject of a police investigation, we are not in a position to comment further," the airline said.
