A pizza maker jumped a barricade and hand-delivered a pizza to Pope Francis during his visit to the southern Italian city of Naples on 21 March, as he was being greeted by cheering crowds on his popemobile.

A video posted online showed pizzeria owner Enzo Cacialli personally handing the pizza over to the Pope, who accepted the gift before driving off in his popemobile.

The Naples-style thin crust pizza topped with yellow cherry tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella, in reference to the Vatican flag, read 'W il Papa' or 'Long live the Pope'.

During his one-day trip to Naples, Pope Francis also visited a sanctuary in Pompeii and the impoverished area of Scampia, a stronghold of the Camorra clans, the city's version of the Sicilian mafia.
