On the 22 July 2013, the world waited with bated breath for the arrival of Kate Middleton and Prince William's son and the future King of England.

And in the 12 months since his birth, Prince George Alexander Louis - or His Royal Highness Prince George of Cambridge – has jetted around the globe, become a style icon and even been crowned the world's best baby barnet.

While his birth sparked a media frenzy, it is likely that his special day will be without the fanfare, that is, if the celebrities are not tripping over themselves to wish him many happy returns.

Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver has posted birthday greetings on his twitter feed with an elaborately decorated assortment of biscuits saying: "Happy 1st birthday #Prince George. This ones for you. Big love! JO"

"William and Kate are low-key so expect a small tea party for family — the Middletons [Kate's family] will of course be invited — and the couple's closest friends," said Katie Nicholl, a London-based journalist and author.

As he marks his first birthday, celebrities have taken to social media to wish Prince George a very happy birthday.
