Prince Harry has laughed off suggestions that he's a modern day, male Bridget Jones.

The 30-year-old said that contrary to recent reports suggesting her was lonely as he travelled the world performing his royal duties, the prince said he is perfectly happy being single and was "very happy not having a girlfriend".

In a candid interview he said: "Bridget Jones? Where's that come from. Because I write my own diary or because I don't have a girlfriend? That's sad. No, for me, it's good... I'm not, sort of, looking. It's cool."

The Prince is hailed the world's most eligible bachelor and his love life has been the focus of ongoing speculation.

His on-off relationship with socialite-turned-actress Cressida Bonas, 26, ended last year. He was previously linked to Chelsey Davy, 30, but the couple called it off in 2011.

The fun-loving Prince has also been romantically linked to his fair share of celebrities including Harry Potter actress Emma Watson and The Saturday's singer Mollie King, but both women denied the reports of a royal romance. It was rumoured that he had approached actress Jennifer Lawrence for a date but was turned down.

His comments come at the end of a tour of Australia and New Zealand. Proving there is no shortage of admirers for the Prince he received a proposal from 21-year-old Victoria McRae.

Dressed in a sequined Australian flag mini dress and tiara the hopeful bride popped the question as she waited for him during his official walkabout outside the Sydney Opera House on May 5.

While the fifth in line to the throne joked he would think about it, Miss McRae won a kiss from the real life Prince Charming.

The Prince had earlier hinted that he would like to find life partner to share his experiences with, much like his brother William and sister-in-law Kate who recently welcomed their second child, Princess Charlotte, possibility fuelling the notion that Harry was in search of his own Princess bride.

The new Uncle said he was now looking forward to meeting his new niece who had kept everyone waiting with her delayed arrival.
