Xbox One and PS4 Getting 3D Blu-Ray Film Support Next Week

Sony has now confirmed that the PS4 system software update 1.75 will be rolling out next week. The confirmation which came via Twitter also added that PS4 will finally be receiving 3D Blu-ray film support through the update.

However, it is worth noting that there is a very small audience for 3D film content and that most users prefer using alternatives like Netflix.

Instead, gamers on social forums have expressed a greater demand for other features like suspend/resume, folders for apps, friend notifications, pause downloads and more, but Sony hasn't offered any of these.

This announcement comes a week after Microsoft announced that its Xbox One console would be getting the 3D Blu-ray playback with the upcoming August update. Apart from this, Microsoft detailed that Xbox owners will receive a social media-like service providing the ability to "like" friends' activities, and share game clips with select groups, as well as a personal feed of friends' activities and interactions.

For those of you who missed it, Microsoft's Xbox One August update has been detailed here along with a video that explains all the new features.
