Atletico Madrid will look to take a giant stride towards a third successive Champions League quarter-final appearance when they take on PSV Eindhoven at the Philips Stadion on 24 February.

Where to watch live

Kick-off is set for 7.45pm GMT. The game will be broadcast live on BT Sport 2.

Overview

Dutch champions PSV Eindhoven are in the knockout rounds of the Champions League for the first time in nine years after they finished above Manchester United and CSKA Moscow in Group B. Phillip Cocu's side have won nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions and are a point ahead of Ajax at the top of the Eredivisie.

Midfielder Andres Guardado (thigh) and forward Maxime Lestienne (calf) are both likely to return from injury for the hosts, while Luuk de Jong is suspended.

Atletico Madrid fell eight points behind Barcelona in La Liga after they were held to a goalless draw by Villarreal on 21 February. The Spanish side have lost all four two-legged ties they have contested with Dutch clubs and have never won on Dutch soil.

Augusto Fernandez has recovered from a knee problem and could feature against PSV, but Yannick Carrasco (ankle), Thomas Partey (thigh) and Tiago (leg) are all sidelined.

What managers say

Phillip Cocu: "I thought we were defensively a lot stronger. The last line and the midfield worked well together and the players put in a lot of work. On Wednesday we'll need to bring the same work and intensity. We gave Heracles too much space in the second half and made the field too big. We can't do that on Wednesday because Atletico are deadly on the counter attack."

Diego Simeone: "If we focus on our objectives, we are on track and it will be very difficult until the end of the season. Obviously we would have liked to win but the result keeps Villarreal six points behind us. Based on the squad's objectives we set at the start of the season, we are well set to achieve them. Except for Barcelona, who are different to all the rest, it is difficult for all of us."
