Overview

Nadal sealed a place in the finals after registering a victory over Peter Gojowczyk in the semi-finals on Friday. The Spaniard lost the first set as the 24-year-old German won the first set comfortably.

However, the World No 1 fought back in the second set to make things even before registering a win in the third and the final set to make it to the finals of the Qatar Open. Nadal won the match 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.

Meanwhile, Nadal's opponent Monfils defeated Florian Mayer in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 to make his way into Saturday's final in Doha. Nadal has never won the competition in Doha and will be looking to register a win on Saturday, which will be a much needed boost for the upcoming Australian open.

The Frenchman has also not won the competition and will be hoping to register a win in the finals to stop Nadal winning the Qatar Open for the first time.

Head-to-Head

Nadal has a comfortable lead over Monfils as the Spaniard has a 8-2 advantage in the overall meetings. The pair have met in one grand slam fixtures and the World No 1 has won it comfortably. Nadal holds a 4-1 lead over Monfils in the last five previous meetings between the pair.
