As part of nationwide festivities, plans for Queen Elizabeth's 90th birthday celebrations have been announced. Around 25,000 tickets will go on sale for the four-night event.
With 900 horses and 1,500 performers, the royal birthday celebrations at Windsor Castle -- between 12 and 15 May 2016 -- will feature dancers, choirs, musicians, famous actors and various artists from across the globe. The 90-minute show will feature her private and public interests.
Performers from countries including Oman, Chile, New Zealand, Canada, Fiji and South Africa will be part of the event. The military will be represented and will include The Queen's Mounted Troops and more than 100 pipers.
Members of the Royal Family will attend the event each night with the Queen in attendance for the grand finale on 15 May with a live broadcast on ITV. Prince Charles will be patron of the celebration's, while Sir Mike Rake, chairman of BT and president of the CBI, will be the event's chairman.
Tickets for the first three nights will be priced between £55 ($83) and £165, while day four tickets will cost between £75 and £195. The event is privately funded and proceeds from the sale of tickets for the event will be donated to the Queen's various charities.
The Queen celebrates two birthdays each year — her actual birthday is on 21 April and her official birthday in June. As part of the national celebrations, there will be a street party at The Mall, a service of thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral and Trooping the Colour.
Simon Brooks-Ward, producer and director for the Windsor Castle celebrations told The Telegraph, "We've been working hard to make this a most unique birthday celebration. We're especially delighted with our plans to offer an extra 5,000 people the chance to be part of the celebrations through our balloted system for (pre-show) tickets on The Long Walk. This will take place in the New Year."
Tickets for the event will be available from 24 November. Further announcements regarding the royal birthday celebrations will be made in the coming months.
