Overview

Nadal has won this Grand Slam on nine occasions and holds the record for most number of wins in the competition. He will be looking to win it for the 10th time this year in order to become the first player to achieve that feat in the French Open.

He has not enjoyed a great run in recent times as he has struggled in the recently concluded ATP Masters event. However, Nadal will be hoping he can put the poor performance behind him and focus on winning his first Grand Slam of the year.

Meanwhile, Halys will be looking for an upset in order to knock Nadal out of the competition, where he has dominated over the last decade. The Frenchman will be hoping the home support could help him over the former world number one.
