Overview

After a difficult 2015 season, which was blighted by injury, Nadal has had a better start to the 216 campaign. After a disastrous Australian Open, where he was knocked out in the first round by Fernando Verdasco, he has made it to the semi-finals or finals in five of the six events. The Spaniard will also be delighted with his start on his favourite surface after winning his first two clay tournaments of the season at Monte Carlo and Barcelona.

Querrey has also one title to his name this season, which was at the Delray Beach Open, following which he has not had much success apart from a semi-final appearance in an ATP 500 event in Mexico. The American world number 37 came through a difficult straight sets win over qualifier Lucas Pouille and will have his task cut out against the undisputed master of clay.
