Rainey Qualley was declared the Miss Golden Globe 2012 on Friday by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA) which hosted "A Night of Firsts," kicking off the award season.

The announcement was made by HFPA President Dr. Aida Takla-O'Reilly at the HFPA/InStyle Young Hollywood Party at Cecconi's in West Hollywood.

"She is a talented and beautiful young woman. We're excited to have her as part of this year's show," said O'Reilly in a statement.

Rainey, 21, is the daughter of actress Andie McDowell and is an actress and musician.

"I would like to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for giving me this wonderful opportunity to serve as Miss Golden Globe 2012," Rainey told a news conference at Cecconi's in West Hollywood.

"I'm really looking forward to being a part of this year's awards presentation," she added, referring to the event which would take place on January 15, 2012. Miss Golden Globe is traditionally given to the child of a celebrity, and the honoree is then required to assist during the ceremony.

Recent awardees include Gia Mantegna, Dakota Johnson, Rumer Willis, Lorraine Nicholson and Kathryn Eastwood. Ricky Gervais, "The Office" actor, would be the host at next year's awards presentation ceremony.
