Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo has compared his new partnership with Gareth Bale with the one that he had with Wayne Rooney at Manchester United.

Some sources suggested that Ronaldo could be jealous of Bale after the Welshman become the most expensive player in history, when Madrid paid Tottenham £81m to secure his services. However, the Portuguese star looks happy with his new mate and has praised him in an interview with Four Four Two.

"I like playing with Bale. He is a very good player: he gives us an extra attacking option.

"In the same way I have shown in the past with the likes of Wayne Rooney, it is easy for a good player to build an understanding with other good players." Ronaldo said.

The former Manchester United star spent six seasons in the Premier League scoring 117 goals and forging a great partnership with Rooney.

Bale had a difficult start to the season in Madrid due to injury, but since regaining fitness he has been superb - scoring a hat trick against Valladolid last week.

There were some doubts about Bale's partnership with Ronaldo because the Portuguese plays on the left wing, where Bale used to play at Tottenham. However the new arrival has shown he can also function highly effectively on the right.

Bale has played nine La Liga games, seven as a starter, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists. He also has scored two goals in four Champions League games, becoming Real's third top scorer this season in all competitions just behind Ronaldo and Karim Benzema.
