Real Madrid star Xabi Alonso has all but confirmed Angel Di Maria's move to Manchester United on his Twitter account, wishing the Argentinian international the best at Old Trafford.

Earlier on Sunday, club manager Carlo Ancelotti revealed Di Maria had already sayd goodbye to his Real Madrid teammates, claiming his exit was very close.

"Di Maria didn't train today. It's not official yet but the transfer is almost done. I would like to thank him for everything he has done for this club. Personally I have had a very good relationship with Di María; he has done a fantastic job at this club. It was his decision. The club did everything possible to keep him. Good luck to him," Ancelotti said.

Although Paris Saint Germain have also been interested in acquiring his services reports in both Spain and England confirmed Di Maria will eventually join Manchester United.

According to the reports, the Premier League giants have already agreed a British record fee of around £64m to secure his services and the deal may be official in the coming hours.

Indeed Di Maria teammate Alonso confirmed his move to Old Trafford through his twitter acount, thanking him for his crucial role in the Champions League final victory against Atletico Madrid.

"Thanks for everything 'noodle' I wish you all the best, even if it is at Man United. I'll never forget your zigzag run in stoppage time in Lisbon," Alonso wrote.

Meanwhile, Marcelo added. "At your feet fidelito (sic - little noodle). Thanks for everything you've done for Real Madrid! You're the best brother! I love you!!"
