Real Madrid will hope to put a week of controversy behind them by winning their fourth straight match in all competitions against Getafe at the Santiago Bernabeu on 5 December.

Real Madrid's midweek Copa del Rey victory at Cadiz descended into farce after they were alleged to have fielded an ineligible player, raising the prospect of the club being thrown out of the competition. The controversy is the latest in a string of setbacks for Rafael Benitez's side, who remain under pressure after November's comprehensive Clasico defeat against Barcelona.

Left-back Marcelo has returned to training after a thigh problem and may feature against Getafe, but fellow defenders Rafael Varane (thigh), Sergio Ramos (shoulder) and Dani Carvajal (leg) are all out. Playmaker Isco also misses out as he serves the second of his two-match ban.

Getafe have won just one of their last six matches across all competitions and were beaten 2-0 by Rayo Vallecano in the Copa del Rey in midweek. The capital club are yet to win on the road this season and have lost all but one of their seven away matches to date.

Midfielder Juan Rodriguez is suspended after collecting five bookings and will not feature at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Rafael Benitez: "I congratulate the players for what my side did out there on the pitch [against Cadiz]. I am only talking about what I saw on the pitch. That is all we can do at the moment. We had a great game in difficult circumstances."

Fran Escriba: "The chance [of progression] is now 70% for [Rayo Vallecano] and 30% for us. We have our options and we will fight to the end. If we had managed to score a goal we would have been calmer, but we will do everything possible to progress."
