Matt Hall flew to win at the final round of the Red Bull Air Race series 18 October in Las Vegas but it was Paul Bonhomme taking the overall series title.

Australian Hall finished with a time of 48.604 seconds to take the top step of the podium, less than half a second better than Briton Bonhomme's time of 48.968, which was good for second place in Vegas. German Matthias Dolderer claimed the third spot with a time of 49.358.

Bonhomme finished the year with 76 total points in total with second place Hall gaining 71. Austrian Hannes Arch was a distant third with 34 points.

Flying under rare cloudy conditions for the desert venue, competitors reached speeds of up to 230mph in their single engine propeller driven planes at a course setup at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn attended the event and celebrated her 31st birthday with a tour from series pilot Kirby Chambliss.
