Rihanna will reportedly be pocketing £5m for turning on the Christmas lights at Stratford’s Westfield centre.

She may have had a rollercoaster of a year but it looks like things are looking up for Rihanna this festive season.

The We Found Love hitmaker is reportedly set to pocket £5m to switch on the Christmas lights at Stratford's Westfield shopping centre.

The 24-year-old Bajan beauty is also believed to be planning a mini concert for 20,000 fans inside the Olympic Park, just a stone's throw away.

A source close to the singer told the Sun: "Rihanna's thrilled she has been asked again. She knows it's a big deal and is totally up for it - if it fits in with her schedule.

"Westfield have had a great year due to the Olympics and want to fork out to celebrate."

The star, who recently debuted the topless cover of her seventh studio album, Unapologetic, is said to have been chosen over the Spice Girls, who performed at the Olympics closing ceremony.

"The Spice Girls were also discussed but Rihanna came out as the artist of choice," the insider added.

Two years ago, RiRi did the honours at Westfield in Shepherd's Bush, on the other side of the capital.

Myf Ryan, general manager for marketing at Westfield Stratford, said: "The Christmas light switch-on at Westfield Stratford City is one of the highlights of the festive calendar. This year we want to thank our loyal shoppers by giving them something they'll never forget."
