Overview

The defending champion Roger Federer has had an injury plagued season so far and comes into this game looking to gain some form ahead of the Wimbledon championships later this month. The former world number one is yet to win a title this year, something which he has never experienced since turning professional.

The eight-time champion at Halle, Federer will look to use his knowledge of the surface as he plays for the first time since the Stuttgart Open. The Swiss maestro is expected to win this one easily, but more importantly he will look to shake off the rust in his play that has followed him in 2016.

His opponent, Germany's Jan-Lennard Struff plays most of his games in the challenger circuit and is more comfortable on clay-court surfaces, which tend to suit his game. This will be the first time that the 26-year-old will be facing Federer and it is unlikely that he will trouble him on 15 June.
