Pop diva Mariah Carey gave the thumbs-up to the boys and girls of the Royal Navy after the crew of HMS Ocean turned one of her songs into a hit online video.

The star Tweeted a link to the humorous clip, saying: "This is the best thing I've ever seen, you guys just made my day!"

The YouTube video, which has been viewed more than a million times since 2 December, was made to celebrate HMS Ocean's return to Britain after being at sea for seven months, bringing the crew home in time for Christmas.

The video shows sailors decked in tinsel and dressed as presents as they sing along to the pop star's 1994 hit single All I Want for Christmas is You.

It also features footage of some members of the crew singing in the shower, toilet and even the bath, ending with them forming the words Merry Xmas with their bodies.
