Police have appealed for help to catch whoever hung tiny white kitten, Sono, in Wimbledon

Animal protection experts have appealed for help to arrest whoever hanged a kitten from a wooden beam in a disused south London garage.

Six-month-old white kitten Sono was found hanged from a length of string in the run-down building in Wimbledon.

The incident has been branded a "macabre" case of animal cruelty.

Sono was believed by his owners to have been asleep in their daughter's bedroom on the night he vanished, last week.

Appealing for help, Inspector Mike Beaman from the RSPCA said: "This was a callous, macabre and incredibly distressing incident and one which is very upsetting for the family of the poor cat.

"This was a truly horrible as well as pointless way for Sono to die – he must have suffered immense pain and distress in his final moments.

"We urge anyone who knows anything at all about this terrible incident to come forward and let us know.

"Whoever did this is obviously capable of great cruelty and I want to do anything I can to stop them doing this again."

Anyone with any information has been urged call 0300 123 8018 in complete confidence.
