Kim Kardashian shared the first public photo of her son Saint West on what would have been her late father Robert Kardashian's birthday Kim Kardashian West

After three months of anticipation, Kim Kardashian has shared the first public picture of her son Saint. The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star posted the photo on her website, explaining that she was commemorating what would have been the birthday of her late father Robert Kardashian.

Kardashian, 35, and husband Kanye West have kept sightings and images of two-month-old Saint under wraps since his birth on 5 December 2015. Alongside the photo, which shows the newborn sleeping and dressed in a white babygrow, Kardashian wrote: "Today is my dad's birthday. I know there's nothing more in the world he would have wanted than to meet his grandchildren. So I wanted to share this pic of Saint with you all."

The reality star's father died in 2003 after a cancer battle, and he would have celebrated his 72nd birthday on Monday (22 February). In another tribute to her father, Kardashian wrote on Instagram: "Happy Birthday dad! I can't believe you would have been 72 today. So much has gone on in our lives since you've been gone, and I know you have been my guardian angel seeing everything unfold! I love you and miss you so much!"

The release of Saint's photo comes just hours after the season finale of KUWTK aired on E! and featured Kardashian, who is also mother to two-year-old daughter North, going into labour. In the episode, family matriarch Kris Jenner is giving a tour of the new Los Angeles apartment she has bought when Kim says: "Wait mum, my f*****g water just broke. Can I please go to the bathroom?"

An excited Jenner replies: "Oh my God this is epic, spectacular. This is going to be an amazing night," To which Kim says: "Are you insane?" before later adding: "My mum is so crazy, I am four centimetres dilated and she is showing me her new place."

She says of going into labour: "The timing is a little off but I am so grateful and thankful she got a place so we are not on top of each other. My mum is so nice and has been such a supportive person when she knows I am stressed out."
