West Ham manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he once scouted current Manchester United boss David Moyes back when he was playing for Dunfermline.

Allardyce, who was then a youth coach at Preston, drove up to Scotland to see Moyes play for Dunfermline in a match against Falkirk back in 1993.

Despite being sent off for handball in the first half, Allardyce reccommended the player to then Preston manager John Beck.

The pressure on under-fire manager Moyes was slightly relieved this week as United turned around a two goal defecit to progress 3-2 on aggregate in their last 16 clash with Olympiakos. The Red Devils face a tricky clash with West Ham at Upton Park this weekend, with Allardyce's team winning their last three home games.
