Samsung has rolled out the new official firmware update, XWLPW Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich), for the international variant of Galaxy S2. As always, the firmware has been rolled out via Samsung Kies. The update will be available in the UK, Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Spain.

CSC: i9100ODDLPC

Version: 4.0.4

Take a look at the steps below to install XWLPW Android 4.0.4 firmware on your Galaxy S2.

To do list:

  • Ensure that you have installed the USB drivers for your Galaxy S2
  • Enable USB debugging mode
  • Check whether your phone's battery has a charge of at least 80 per cent
  • Back up all your data
  • Make sure that your phone is factory unlocked

Points to Remember:

  • The firmware and guide below are compatible only with Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100. Do not try this on any other device
  • This is an official firmware update, which means on installing the update your device will lose root

Installation:

  • Download Android 4.0.4 i9100XWLPW and extract the file
  • Download Odin v1.85 on your phone
  • Turn off the phone and enter download mode. You can do so by pressing and holding volume down + home buttons and then press the power key until you see the construction Android robot and a triangle
  • Open Odin on your PC and connect the phone to PC while it is in the download mode
  • On successful connection, you will see that one of the ID:COM boxes will turn yellow
  • Choose files which are to be flashed/installed on your phone. These files will be found from the extracted files in step 1

§ Click on PDA and choose file with CODE in its name

§ Click on Phone and choose file with MODEM in its name

§ Click on CSC and choose file with CSC in its name

§ Click on PIT and choose the .pit file

  • Check the Auto Reboot and F.Reset options in the Odin
  • In Odin, click on start button to begin the installation
  • Your phone will now restart

Your Samsung Galaxy S2 should now be running Android 4.0.4 XWLPW software.
