Korean tech giant Samsung launched their smartphone Galaxy S2 in April last year and the company is now all set to unveil its successor - Galaxy S3 - at London on 3 May. However, the Galaxy S2 has its own success story of becoming one of the best smartphones till date.

Meanwhile, Chinese mobile manufacturer Huawei had unveiled its fastest quad-core smartphone, Huawei Ascend D quad in February. The Ascend D quad packs the company's quad-core processor and is expected to hit the shelves of countries like China, Australia, Europe, Asia-Pacific, North and South America and the Middle East in the second quarter of this year.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy S2 features 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen with 16M colors. The resolution of the display is 800x480pixels. On the other hand, the upcoming Huawei Ascend D quad features a display of a 4.5-inch IPS LCD Capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280x720pixels.

Size

The Samsung Galaxy S2 measures 4.93x2.60x0.33inches (125.3x66.1x8.49mm) in thickness and weighs 116g, whereas the Ascend D quad measures 5.08x2.25x0.35inches in thickness and weighs approximately 130g.

Operating system

The Galaxy S2 runs with Android operating system 2.3Gingerbread, while the Huawei Ascend D quad will run on Android operating system 4.0 Ice Cream sandwich.

Processor

The Galaxy S2 is powered by 1.2 GHz dual-core Arm Cortex A9 processor providing functionality and density for fast browsing, quick multitasking, a smooth user interface and efficient gaming. In contrast, the Huawei Ascend D quad is powered by Huawei's K3V2 1.2GHz/1.5GHz processor. Both the smartphones packs 1GB RAM.

Camera

The Samsung Galaxy S2 sports a primary camera of eight megapixels with LED flash and autofocus and a secondary front-facing camera of 2 megapixel, whereas Huawei Ascend D quad sports a primary camera of 8 megapixels with dual LED Autofocus and can shoot video at 1080p. It also carries a secondary front-facing camera with a resolution of 1.3 megapixels.

Connectivity

The Samsung Galaxy S2 can be connected to internet through GPRS, EDGE, 3G and also supports Bluetooth version 3.0, Wi-Fi and micro USB. The Huawei Ascend D quad offers 3G connectivity and it supports Wi-Fi 802.11 n/g/b and Bluetooth version 3.0+HS.

Storage

The internal memory storage of Samsung Galaxy S2 is either 16GB or 32GB and can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. The Huawei Ascend D quad has internal memory storage capacity of 8GB, expandable up to 32GB using microSD card.

Battery

The Galaxy S2 is powered by a 1650 mAh battery, while the Huawei Ascend D quad has a standard battery of 1800 mAh.
