Samsung is yet to set a definite release date for the Galaxy S4 Active, which is IP67 qualified for dust and water protection. But the company promises that the device will be available for purchase in the beginning of this summer starting from the US and Sweden.
Also, the new handset will be displayed at the Samsung Premier 2013 Galaxy & Ativ event in London scheduled for 20 June.
Sammobile has now confirmed the release date for the UK. The Galaxy S4 Active, according to the latest revelation, is expected to roll out for the UK smartphone market on 1 July. Apart from the release, currently there is not much information on the pricing for the device.
The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S4 Active features a 5in full HD TFT LCD display with a pixel density of 443 pixels per inch (ppi). It will run on the latest Jelly Bean software version, Android 4.2.2, and features Samsung's TouchWiz Nature UX interface.
The Galaxy S4 Active, unlike the Galaxy S4, has an eight megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing camera of two megapixel. Both the cameras are capable of recording 1080p video at 30 frames per second (fps).
The device uses the Snapdragon 600 chip featuring a quad-core processor with each core clocked at 1.9GHz, paired with Adreno 320 graphics unit. Also, the Snapdragon 600 chip integrates 2GB of RAM. The Galaxy S4 Active is an NFC-enabled handset and supports 4G LTE network speeds. It will come with a 16GB storage variant and will support microSD card for additional storage up to 64GB. The handset runs with a 2, 600mAh battery.
Besides, the upcoming handset carries several features introduced in the Galaxy S4, including S Translator, Sound & Shot, Drama Shot, S Health, Air View, Air Gesture and Smart Pause.
