South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung, which recently launched the high-end Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge in the US, now seemingly looks set to launch yet another variant of the Galaxy S6 called the Galaxy S6 Active in the country.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Active is expected to be launched initially by AT&T in the US, as the carrier's inventory has been spotted containing references to Samsung Galaxy S6 Active.

According to a SamMobile report, that quotes an official AT&T inventory listing, Samsung Galaxy S6 Active bears model number SM-G890 which on paper confirms the existence of the Galaxy S6 Active and also hints at the smartphone being an AT&T-exclusive at least in the US.

The expected Samsung Galaxy S6 Active was also the subject of rumour mills earlier which hinted at the handset having high-end technical specifications.

Samsung is yet to officially confirm the existence of Galaxy S6 Active, but the SamMobile report also hints at multiple technical aspects of the smartphone, which are as given below:

  • Android 5.0 Lollipop operating platform, straight out of the box
  • Octa-core CPU
  • 16MP rear camera
  • 5MP front camera
  • 3GB RAM
  • 32GB internal storage
  • Possible MicroSD card slot
