The long wait for Samsung's bigger version of its 'phablet' is over. The UK retailers have revealed the pricing as well as the release date for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
Clove UK has announced the 16GB version of Galaxy Note 2 is available for pre-order at £455 (including VAT, the price comes to £546). The retailer has not provided a release date but mentions that the first SIM-free stock of Note 2 is expected sometime in the middle of October.
The product page shows that the 16GB Note 2 with code name SAM-NOT2 will be available in both Marble White and Titanium Gray colour options.
Another UK retailer, Unlocked Mobile.com has also announced that it will be stocking the SIM-free 16GB Galaxy Note 2 at a retail price £544.98 including VAT. The retailer has asked consumers to register for pre-orders. The retailer says the Galaxy Note 2 is expected on 15 October.
Both the retailers have not mentioned anything on the availability of the 32GB as well as the 64GB versions of the device.
Why Did Samsung Use 8 Megapixel Camera for Note 2?
As expected, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 2 at the IFA trade show in Berlin. The device features a 5.5in Super AMOLED display (720 x 1280pixels, 267ppi) protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and features TouchWiz user interface (UI).
The Note 2 will run on Android's latest version of software - 4.1 or Jelly Bean - from launch. An Exynos 4 chipset with a 1.6GHz quad-core Cortex-A9 processor powers the smartphone. The Note 2 supports 3G and 4G network. It is equipped with an eight megapixel rear-camera and 1.9 megapixel front-camera.
The Note 2 might have disappointed those consumers who were expecting a higher resolution camera as there were rumours that the Note 2 was expected to come with a 12 megapixel camera.
According to a report by Unwired View, Samsung earlier had plans to use a 13 megapixel sensor in the Note 2 which was expected to be manufactured by Sony. But Samsung could not get enough CMOS sensors from Sony which was why the Galaxy Note 2 had to use the eight megapixel camera.
