Following the Exusnos 5 octa-core variant, Samsung has just started rolling out stock Android 4.4.2 KitKat software update for the LTE variant of Galaxy S4 with model number GT-I9505 running quad-core Snapdragon 600 processor.

With build number I9505XXUFNB8, the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is currently available for Galaxy S4 users in Germany, reports Sammobile. To update Galaxy S4 to I9505XXUFNB8 Android 4.4.2, connect the device to the computer and use Samsung Kies or, the OTA service. Navigate to Settings>> More>> About device>> Software update>> Update to download and install new firmware via OTA.

As the update is rolling out in phases, it may not be available for all users at the moment. But it is expected to arrive for all Galaxy S4 users across the globe soon. Those having carrier branded devices will have to wait for a while, since the update has to get approved by the carrier first, after which Samsung will make it available.

As for the new changes, the Android 4.4.2 adds minor UI changes. One of the most noticeable is the use of KitKat style white status bar icons instead of multi-colour icons, which is available for all Samsung's devices. In terms of performance, the update gives a boost to the smartphone while increasing the benchmark scores. The keyboard layout has been improved for use in landscape mode, making gesture typing faster as well as easier.

The update also brings improvements for the lockscreen by adding camera shortcut on the lockscreen for quick access. Also, the album art now displays in full screen while playing music.

Other core Android 4.4.2 changes includes wireless printing, new emojis support, choice between stock messaging app and Hangouts for SMS and MMS and options for charging default launchers under settings.
