Samsung, on 6 March, announced a new Android-powered smartphone, the Galaxy Pocket. The new phone, according to a report on Endgagdet, was announced in London and will be available in the UK later this year.

"With the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, we are building on the features we know our customers enjoy and get the most out of. This new device adds further breadth to the choice of smartphones we currently offer and provides a smartphone experience for even more customers at an affordable price," said Simon Stanford, Vice President, UK & IRE Telecommunications & Networks Division, in a company statement.

Specifications at a Glance:

Display: The new smartphone features a 2.8-inch QVGA screen TN LCD display with a resolution of 320x240. It also features the TouchWiz user interface

Size: The dimension of the Galaxy Pocket is 103.7x57.5x12mm and it weighs 97g

Operating system: It will run on the Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS

Processor: The Pocket will be powered by an 832MHz single-core processor

Camera: It features a 2 megapixel fixed-focus camera

Connectivity: The smartphone offers Bluetooth V3.0, USB V2.0 and Wi-Fi b/g/n

Storage: The phone has 3GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 32GB via a microSD card

Battery: It has a standard battery with a capacity of 1,200mAh.
