Samsung will reveal the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge smartphones at Barcelona event IBTimes UK

Samsung will announce the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge at its Unpacked media event in Barcelona on 21 February. The event kicks off at 7pm local time (6pm GMT) and IBTimes UK will be attending.

The Galaxy S6 and S7 Edge will replace the S6 and S6 Edge, which were announced at an identical event in Barcelona in 2015. The S7 family has already been the victim of numerous leaks in the days and weeks leading up to this year's event but that will not stop the chance of Samsung pulling a surprise out of the bag.

We know the S7 duo will look almost identical to the S6s they replace - although the rear camera bump should be smaller - and there will no doubt be improvements to the processor and camera quality. We also expect to see waterproofing and wireless charging.

As always, Samsung will stream a live video broadcast of the Unpacked event on its YouTube channel and press website, which anyone can access. Once the video has gone live (usually several hours before the event starts), we will embed it into this article. Samsung will also be streaming the event through a virtual reality app on the Oculus app store, meaning Gear VR users can enjoy the show in 360 degrees.

The conference should last for around 45 minutes to an hour and afterwards IBTimes UK will head down into the annual fistfight to bring you our hands-on first impressions of the new phones - and whatever else Samsung has up its sleeve.

We will then be attending Mobile World Congress, which starts in Barcelona the very next day, to bring you even more smartphone, tablet and wearable news. Stay tuned.
