Scandal Season 4 premiere episode titled 'Randy, Red, Superfreak and Julia' airs tonight (September 25) on ABC.

The official synopsis for the new episode reads:

"Two months after the reelection, everything has changed. Fitz and Cyrus try to make a positive impact with their second term while Mellie struggles with the loss of her son. And the gladiators feel the impact of Olivia's absence."

Showrunner Shonda Rhimes revealed, during an earlier interview, that Scandal Season 4 will have a small time jump, and will start in a new time and location.

"We're in a very different space than we were when we were even three episodes toward the end. We're in a very different spot and everybody has been wiped clean, and anything goes, in a weird way," Rhimes told The Hollywood Reporter.

Actors Tony Goldwyn and Bellamy Young also seem super excited about the "reinvented" and "darker" upcoming season:

"The [writers and producers] have blown our minds with the way they've reinvented everything, but they've managed to keep it at the same intensity level too," Goldwyn told Glamour magazine. He also added that his relationship with the First Lady has "gone to a new place."

Fans can also look forward to several guest stars appearing on the show this season. The list includes Kelen Coleman, Josh Randall, Mary McCormack, Portia de Rossi, Matthew Del Negro, and Sonya Wagler, reports Christian Today.

Scandal Season 4 premiere episode takes place two-and-a-half months after the Season 3 finale.
